The movie that started it all! The Meatrix (www.themeatrix.com) spoofs The Matrix films and highlights the problems with factory farming. Instead of Keanu Reeves, The Meatrix stars a young pig, Leo, who lives on a pleasant family farm... he thinks. Leo is approached by a trenchcoat-clad cow, Moopheus, and joins him on a journey to learn more about what goes on behind closed barn doors at factory farms. The Meatrix was created and produced by Sustainable Table (www.sustainabletable.org) and Free Range Studios (www.freerangestudios.com).

Looking for the perfect Pet?

Please be responsible do not just get the first puppy you see.

Research breeds online to determine which breed closely matches your family's needs. Consider the following: size, temperament, exercise needs, maintenance, food requirements and known breed-specific health issues like hip dysplasia.

Please avoid purchasing puppies from pet shops most likely they will be from puppy mills and they will do everything in their power and lie to you.

Was Jesus a vegetarian?

I have been thinking about that for a few hours. Not that it would make a huge difference in my eating habits if I were told Jesus was a meat eater. I wouldn't go and buy a Junior bacon cheeseburger. I have been searching vegetarian recipes, vegan shoes, bags things of that sort because I do plan to eventually have my whole lifestyle cruelty-free. Now the hard part is getting my other half to tag along =). But during that research I have found material stating that Jesus could have been a vegetarian. I could see where he could have possibly been a vegetarian. Come on now, he is the son of God why would he want to eat anything that can feel hurt, that loves and can suffer. I do feel it is wrong the way you devour our meat today. It only took one video for me to stop eating meat. I was one of the people that would say "but it tastes so good, I don't know how you could be a vegetarian." "What the eyes don't see the heart doesn't feel" this little phrase goes hand in hand with all the factory farm cruelty videos. On that note.....

Genesis 1 28-31
28 God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."

29 Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food." And it was so.

31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.

Romans 14:21
It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause any man to stumble.

Ecclesiastes 3 18-20
Man's fate is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath; man has no advantage over the animal. Everything is meaningless. All go to the same place; all come from dust, and to dust all shall return.

Proverbs 15:17
Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox with hatred within."

"Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of something to eat." ~ Romans 14:20

"He who killeth an ox is as if he slew a man. And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear, for your hands are stained with blood, and your mouths are defiled with flesh." Isaiah 1:15,66:3

Genesis 9:3
Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.

Now notice God says "just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything". This is proof to me that before this point, people were only eating fruits and vegetables.

Also, after Adam and Eve sinned then did God provide animal skin to better cover themselves and their shame.

Just pondering here.....

The Kill Box-Shelter Dogs vs. Pet shop puppies

If you have the guts to watch the video you will see what happens when you purchase a dog from a pet shop vs. adopting one from a shelter. Pet shop puppies come from puppy mills these dogs are left in a cage to breed 100 times over never ever having the pleasure to run or play or even touch grass with their paws. When you purchase a puppy from a store you keep these horrible humans in business. Pet shops lie to you and tell you they do not come from puppy mills. THEY DO! So many great dogs and cats are waiting to be adopted at your local shelter. Some with problems that in time with patience you can work it out. So, please do yourself and these shelter animals a favor. Please adopt! Millions of dogs die each day because no one wants to give them a home. Adopting is the way to go!

Becoming a vegetarian AGAIN!

January 1-31 2009

Day 8-31

This one isn't really exciting but it was really good and starchy! Rice and beans, Salad and mash po' taters.  A latina girl always doubles the starches.

Here is a picture of a delicious meal Andrew cooked! Shrimp w/fettucine and salad.

I have to say the tough part is not giving up the meat. The tough part is actually writing about it.   I've had a lot to eat since the last time i've blogged.  Some good, some bad, some boring, some that looked good and once you taste it...YUCK.  I am not sure if I already mentioned I purchased vitamins.  Take one a day, it keeps the doctor away.  I thought I would feel some extra energy after taking vitamins but NOPE.

Day 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7

Ok, So I slacked off for a few days. This is what I have been up to.  I ended up purchasing a multi-vitamin and I think it's actually giving me some energy.  For the past few days I have eaten tuna fish with onions and potatoes and white rice.  It might sound strange but It tastes really good! Then again if you had an ecuadorian mom that knows how to make it.  I keep forgetting to take pictures of my food.  I can't remember everything I've eaten but today Joe from JJ's catering came by and he brought some YuMMY Tilapia! It was breaded with panko. I tell ya' it was amazing especially with the sauce he made. For Dinner today I had some rice and beans. I think I really need to talk to a nutritionist to see what I need to purchase to stay healthy.  But then again I can't go wrong eating Doritos and Oreo cookies which by the way I almost barfed up last night.  I ate way too many! I'm going to try to post some more interesting things. Even though I only have one follower....thanks E and J!

Day 2

Thank Goodness! I am not big on eating sausage and bacon for breakfast.  I am all good with just having scrambled eggs, toast and coffee.  I am still eating dairy because I am not a vegan.  Vegans do not eat any type of living creature or any type of food that comes from them. I still drink milk, eat eggs, and put mayo on my tuna etc.  For Din Din, we went to eat at a Thai restaurant in BK called Fulton Thai.  It was pretty good. Shrimp with basil, bamboo shoots, onions and mushrooms with white rice.  I forgot my camera so I wasn't able to take a picture of the meal.  In the end topping it with Thai iced tea and for dessert fried banana with ice cream. Day two was a success!

Continuation of Day 1

On my first night I was looking forward to eat some salmon with rice and mash potatoes. But unfortunately I didn't like the taste of the fish. TOO fishy! It was just carbs for the night. Yummy! I need to remind myself to buy some vitamins. I did enjoy eating my favorite DORITOS for dessert though.

Day 1

Yes folks! Here I am again trying to be a vegetarian all over again.  I tried it about a year and a half ago and it went pretty well.  I was off the beef and poultry for a little over six months. Somehow I slipped and I don't remember exactly how it happened.  If you are wondering why? Well it's pretty simple.  My love for animals is greater then my love for meat. Don't get me wrong I love to eat some good ol' roast beef or yummy baked chicken.  But I just refuse to eat it in the conditions that we do. Imagine that juicy savory chicken breast on your plate!  Then imagine how all those chickens were slaughtered. Hundreds, no thousands, One by one getting their throats slashed.   They never felt the sun on their back or grass on their feet.  Don't get me wrong. I'm not totally against eating animals just as long as they had a chance to be free.  Below is a video that initially made me want to stop eating animals.
